Know before you go

Understanding full spectrum sauna.

01

Infrared versus traditional sauna

A traditional Finnish sauna heats the air, often to around 176 to 212°F. An infrared sauna works differently. Its heaters send out infrared energy that warms your skin directly, while the air stays far cooler. Studies of infrared saunas often used temperatures near 140°F. That is why the heat feels softer, and why many guests who find traditional saunas too intense enjoy this one.

02

Near, mid and far infrared

Scientists split infrared into three bands by wavelength. Near infrared sits closest to visible red light. Mid infrared comes next, and far infrared has the longest waves. Far infrared is felt mainly as gentle, radiant heat on the skin. Our sauna is a full spectrum cabin. Curious about the heaters inside it? Ask us when you visit, and we are happy to explain how it works.

03

What the research says

Long-term studies of Finnish men found that frequent sauna use was linked with lower rates of sudden cardiac death and death overall. That is an association, not proof. Regular bathers may simply lead healthier lives. Smaller trials suggest sauna sessions may help people relax and feel better in mood. Most studies are small, and researchers say there is not enough evidence yet to compare infrared and traditional saunas.

04

Water, timing and cooling down

Heat makes you sweat, so hydration matters. Drink water before you go in, and we will have some ready. One medical guide suggests two to four glasses of cool water afterward. Leave the cabin any time you feel too hot or unwell. Cool down slowly, then rest, rehydrate or take the Cold Plunge. Skip the sauna on days you feel ill.

FAQ

Full Spectrum Sauna, answered.

How much does full spectrum sauna cost at Exhale?

30 minute sauna: $30. 60 minute sauna: $60. Heat and Heal, four 45 minute sessions a month: $140. Heat and Heal, eight 45 minute sessions a month: $260. Unlimited sauna, 45 minute sessions, monthly: $299. Prices as listed on Exhale's Square booking page, October 2026. Check Square for current prices.

Is the heat bearable?

Yes, for most guests the heat is very bearable. Infrared heaters warm your skin directly while the air stays cooler than in a traditional sauna. Studies of infrared saunas often ran near 140°F, compared with roughly 176 to 212°F in a Finnish sauna. You are always free to step out if you feel too warm, and that is the safe thing to do.

How long is a session?

You can book a 30 minute session for $30 or a 60 minute session for $60. Our packs and memberships use 45 minute sessions. There is no single right length, and researchers say evidence does not yet point to an ideal time. Whatever you book, leave early whenever you feel too hot or unwell. Shorter is fine.

Can I combine it?

Yes. Massage, red light and the Cold Plunge are all popular pairings. Our Contrast Glow session combines the sauna and the Cold Plunge in one hour for $65. You warm up in the heat, take a short cold round, then go back to the heat at your own pace. Ask us when you book and we will plan the order with you.

What memberships and packs do you offer?

We offer Heat and Heal memberships and sauna packs. Heat and Heal is $140 a month for four 45 minute sessions, or $260 for eight. Unlimited 45 minute sessions are $299 a month. Packs of 60 minute sessions cost $165 for 3, $275 for 5 and $500 for 10. A 10 pack of 45 minute sessions is $350. We ask for 24 hours notice to change a booking.

How much water should I drink?

Drink water before your session and plenty afterward. We will have water ready for you. A short session can make you lose a lot of sweat. One Harvard Health guide suggests two to four glasses of cool water afterward. Avoid alcohol before and after, since it raises your risk of overheating. If you take medicines that affect sweating, ask your doctor first.

Can I use the sauna if I am pregnant?

Check with your doctor or midwife before using any sauna while pregnant. Raising your core temperature in early pregnancy has been linked to a higher risk of neural tube defects. One health system advises limiting sauna time to 15 minutes and getting out if you feel too hot. Once your provider has cleared you, call 727-641-1731 and we will talk through your visit.

Is infrared better than a traditional sauna?

Nobody knows yet, because research has not compared them well. A large review found too little evidence to tell their health effects apart. Infrared does feel gentler, since it warms your skin while the air stays cooler. That makes it easier for many people to relax and stay in. The best sauna is the one you enjoy and use safely.
